Claire L. Gold
The Human Origins Workshop was developed by Claire Gold who has a Master's degree in Biological Anthropology and has taught Anthropology courses at Bay Path University, Clark University and the University of Massachusetts for the past 12 years. She is interested in human evolution, forensic anthropology and archaeology.
Recognizing the benefit of anthropology in the public classroom, Gold developed the fossil workshop with a public service grant that she was awarded while teaching at UMASS, Boston. As a pilot outreach program, it received high marks from Massachusetts science and social studies teachers. The workshop reinforces existing science and history curriculum by offering students a hands-on learning opportunity.
Gold is a member of the Society for American Archaeology and Northeast Director for a nonprofit group, Forensic Archaeology Recovery. Most of her time is spent visiting school classrooms, libraries, camps and all over New England with the fossil workshop. She enjoys sharing Anthropology with students of all ages.
Gold lives in Norwood, Ma. with her three children and husband.
